Founded by ex-forces James Murray, Ogilvy & More is Sherborne’s leading artisanal deli and foodie gift shop tucked along Half Moon Street, under the Abbey’s stern gaze. While leaning local wherever possible, the focus here is on high-quality artisan producers, and the carefully sourced goodies are exclusively used in the menus. Light spills in through floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the wrinkly loaves (from third-generation Italian bakers in Castle Cary), and farmhouse-style tables perked up with fresh garden flowers and scattered in seafood platters, grilled coppa and goat cheese sandwiches and Chalk Stream trout with perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. It’s worth browsing the Curator’s Choice hampers and treats lining the shelves for presents – fig jams, West Country honeys and Dorset overnight oats – or just delicious momentos.
